Movie Premier – Little Boy
Hawaii Ocean Club Realty Group had the opportunity to be a part of the premier of the film, Little Boy. The film was based around the time of World War II when tension was high against the Japanese. A story was told about a little boy finding that “faith the size of a mustard seed” was good enough to bring back his father from the duties of war. Through this, the Little Boy (named Pepper) was battling a struggle of his own. The town bullied him and poked fun at his height disadvantages. He even had to settle his hatred and differences with the Japenese, most specifically a Japanese member of the community that was deemed “ok” to live amongst Americans. His name was “Hashimoto” played by Hawaii local boy, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. You may have seen him star in hit movies “Mortal Kombat” as well as Disney’s “Johnny Tsunami.” Despite Pepper’s differences with Hashimoto and the Japanese people in whole, he built a strong bond with him. Hashimoto helped Pepper along his journey of growing his faith through tasks instructed to him from a local pastor in his town. It was a tale of a gorgeous story of faith, hope and never giving up.
We had the privilege of being amongst one of the producers. In the audience was also, Pattie Mallette, Justin Bieber’s mother!!! Her connection with the movie premier was with the producer that was present. They worked on a documentary together in Hollywood raising money for a charity. Also present at the premier was Hashimoto! Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa had a strong connection with the Japanese Cultural Center here in Hawaii. He got to share his backstory about the film and what it meant to him.
Here are some of the photos we got to take during the premier:
