Grocery Stores Near Waikiki
Here’s a little information about where to buy your groceries when staying in Waikiki. Some are convenient in Waikiki, but run the risk of paying a higher price for said convenience. If you have a rent-a-car, it might be in your best interest to buy your groceries all at once at locations like Walmart, Sam’s Club, Safeway or Costco.
Sam’s Club and Walmart
Located on Keeaumoku St.

Walmart Hours: open 24 hrs
Sam’s Club hours: 10:00am – 8:30pm
You must be a member to shop at Sam’s Club. Keeaumoku Avenue has a lot of great eateries in the area as well. If you look down the street facing oceanside, you’ll notice Ala Moana Shopping Center is a block away. This is one of the busiest Walmart locations in the nation. This place is usually packed with people.

Don Quijote
Located a couple blocks away from Walmart and Sam’s club.

Distance: about 5-10 minute drive. 20-minute walk from the edge of Waikiki.
This place is ideal for any exotic food buys. This market specializes in Asian foods. A tourist favorite for trying out new things. Also a great place to buy souvenirs. If you get hungry, there are a lot of great eateries outside of the store.
Safeway
Safeway Kapahulu located on east end of Waikiki.

Distance: 5-10 minutes by car/bus. About 20 minute walk.
This is a relatively new Safeway. Very spacious with lots of eateries in the shopping complex and all through Kapahulu Ave. It’s recommended that you are a Safeway member to get the best deals on groceries. You are also able to sign up for a membership and save on the spot.
Costco
This location is recommended to travel by car.

Distance: about 20-25 minutes by car depending on rush hour traffic.
Direction tips:
Exit Waikiki through Ala Moana Blvd (west end of Waikiki). Follow Ala Moana all the way down past the shopping center, Ward Centers and Aloha Tower. You will see Hilo Hattie on your left, in which you are getting close to turn right onto Alakawa Street. Parking to Costco will be on your right after passing the Home Depot.
This is the ideal place to buy groceries in bulk for your entire stay on the islands. Best way to save money. Lots of parking and is generally busy. Best thing to do is go as soon as it is open at 10am or after rush hour around 6:00pm and on. You must be a Costco member to shop here.

This location is right in the middle of Waikiki. You will find all your general grocery needs here. Prices may be a bit more compared to other grocery stores outside of Waikiki.
ABC Stores
The ultimate convenience because of the abundance of locations in Waikiki.

The ABC stores are iconic in Waikiki. There are 56 locations in Waikiki! This is the ultimate convenience if you are traveling on foot or have a short stay in Waikiki. There is always an ABC Store within a couple minutes of wherever you are in Waikiki. Prices are a bit higher than grocery stores, but the customer service is awesome and locations are very convenient. This is the place to buy your last minute souvenirs to bring back home as well. A common local joke about the ABC Stores is “A-B-C stands for All Blocks Covered!”
